Alabama Ketamine Clinics is a multi-specialty clinic, where we have Psychiatry, Neurology, and Primary Care departments as well as a large variety of different medical tests and services. We are always looking for ways to improve our patient care, and our latest addition to this office is ketamine treatment, which is something we have started in this area because we really believe in the good that this can do. Read on to discover the positive impact that ketamine can have on you or a loved one’s life.

What is Ketamine?

Originally developed as an anesthetic, ketamine is one of the most widely used drugs in modern medicine because it’s incredibly safe and it has a variety of medical uses. In fact, ketamine has been used for over fifty years as an anesthetic by doctors all over the world, including pediatric surgeons, veterinarians, and the US military.

In the 1990s, it was discovered that ketamine can treat depression very effectively, and since then, countless studies have been conducted all over the world in order to learn more about ketamine’s effect on depression. Studies at Yale University, Mt. Sinai University, Oxford University, the National Institutes of Health, the Mayo Clinic, and many others have shown that generally, three out of every four patients respond favorably to ketamine.

This new method of intravenous ketamine infusion can be used to treat patients with chronic physical pain, inflammatory illnesses, and mood disorders, including patients who are actively suicidal! Many people have felt relief within minutes or hours of treatment.
